Kayak rentals in the downtown harbor of Put-in-Bay

The Tall Ships come to Put in Bay harbor. Get up close by kayak- Amazing!!

Kayaking the limestone cliffs of Gibraltar Island and the Needles Eye

Sept.6 update- Labor Day Weekend was a fantastic weekend on the island.  It was a rare opportunity for kayakers to get up close to the Tall Ships.  We should have some Tall Ships this weekend also-take advantage of this and the fantastic weather we will have.  This is Historical Weekend with lots of boyscouts camping at the Perry Memorial and plenty of programs going on about the 1812 war on Lake Erie.  Parades, marching bands, reenactments AND the Harbor Illumination.  Don't miss it-fall is near.  We are still working on SUMMER weather.

The Harbor Illumination will be fantastic and Kayak the Bay will be renting kayaks to see the illumination at dusk.  This will be September 7.  Stop by Kayak the Bay, Ltd. and get on the list Sept. 7.  This will be $25.00 per person and I would highly suggest bringing a camera to see this amazing sight by water (except for being on top of the monument-this will be the best view of the whole harbor illuminated) We will provide lights for night kayaking.

After Labor Day Weekend-we will shorten our hours to noon to 6 except on weekends.

GROUPS- Be sure to get your reservations in soon.  We are starting to book groups now.

Have a fun experience during your island visit by kayaking around the islands. There is so much to explore along the islands' shorelines and kayaking the Bay at Put-in-Bay gives you a unique perspective of the Lake Erie Islands.
Kayak the Bay, ltd. offers single and double sit in and sit-on-top kayaks for exploring the Bay area of Put-in-Bay, including Gibraltar Island, home to The Ohio State University's Stone Lab.

Get a close-up view of the limestone rocks along the islands' shoreline. Thread "Needle's Eye" at Gibraltar and paddled under the unusual Cliff House on the West Shore

Feeling adventurous? Paddle over to Middle Bass Island for lunch and to explore, or travel down Put-in-Bay's west shore and see the former Dykstra ship structure that is now perched on a cliff and used as a summer home.

On your kayaking adventure search the beaches for beach glass, lake glass and sea glass. We'll give you some tips on where to find beach glass on the islands.

Or point your kayak east, paddle past the limestone cliffs to Ballast Island. Whatever you decide, you're sure to discover a different side of Lake Erie, Middle Bass, South Bass and Put in Bay during your next island vacation.
Kayaking is fun and also great exercise that just about anyone can do. With a few minutes of basic instruction and learning to maneuver your kayak you'll be on your way to a fun experience.

We try hard to accommodate your fun island vacation or visit. We love Put-in-Bay and enjoy its beauty. You will too. And with a little practice you'll get to explore a side of the island that even some islanders have never seen.

Explore another side of Put-in-Bay this summer and tell everyone you 'Yakked the Bay.
