Practice safety first
Exploring the lake around the islands is a lot of fun, especially in a kayak where you go at your own pace, but always remember to practice safety first.
Be sure you wear the lifejacket provided and, if you're alone, always let someone know what you are doing, where you are going and what time you expect to return.
Its always best to err on the side of caution. We want you to enjoy your kayaking experience and return for another fun adventure kayaking the Bay at Put-in-Bay, Ohio.

Here are some other tips when planning a day of kayaking around the islands.
♥  Wear a swimsuit under your regular clothes for changing quickly for your kayaking adventure.
♥  Be sure to take drinking water along--its important you are hydrated while exercising.  If you forget-we normally sell water for $1.00/bottle.
♥  Be sure to bring sunblock for your nose and lips and a good suntan lotion for your   shoulders, neck, arms and legs.
♥  A hat is always good protection from the sun as is a good pair of sunglasses.
♥  We rent Dry Bags to keep your camera and cell phone dry. Set aside a reasonable amount of time to explore -two hours is a good start.
♥  Travel with a friend or with family--its more fun exploring with others.
♥  Paddling is a great way to tone your arms and build muscle in your shoulders and upper arms.

We do ask that an adult accompany 16 and under while kayaking.  It's a safety thing with us.  You don't have to be IN the same kayak (good grief-that could be bad) but you do need to be nearby.  Normally, the kayaks and boats are in different areas, but sometimes there are interactions in the channel.  Under 18-we would like an adult to sign the liability waiver.  This is truly something the whole family will enjoy together.

More info:

We have storage for your "stuff" while you are out paddling.  There is a bathroom close by to change clothes.  Yes, there is parking for bikes, cars and golf carts. YES, you can bring your dog.  Mine LOVES to go out in the kayak.  Bring a towel so they won't slip.

Sunday through Thursday is always great if you want to see a quieter island.  On the weekends-it's quite fun for the adults and much more crowded.
